Floor Hockey Studyguide
1. The Team
* Each team is made up of four different positions
* Goalie - stops with hands, feet, or stick
* Rover - the only player allowed to move full court
* Guards - can only move in the defensive court
* Forwards - can only move in the offensive court
2. The Game:
* Play starts with a bulley, which is when the rovers face each other with sticks, then they hit the floor and then each other sticks 3 times then go after the puck.
* Play is continuous unless a goal is scored or a penalty foul is called.
* Play is only stopped when there is a floor violation.
3. Scoring:
* 1 point is awarded when the puck passes the goal line.
* The goal does not count on a bulley.
4. Goalie:
* The goalie cannot lie on the floor to stop the puck nor can they hold the puck under there foot nor throw or kick the puck.
* A penalty for any of these violations is a loss of possession and a foul.
* The goalie is the only player that pick up the puck and take it back to there area.
* No one except the goalie is allowed in the goalies box.
5. Out-of-Bounds:
* If the puck crosses into the other court or goes into the hallway.
* The side walls are not out-of-bounds.
* If the team hits it into the other court, the opposite team will hit the puck in from the blue-inbounds line.
6. Fouls:
* Floor violations include the following: 1) touching puck with hands, 2) high sticking above the knees, 3) player other than goalie entering the goalie box.
*Consequence is a free penalty shot hit by the rover from the penalty line.
* Roughing Fouls include: 1) hacking or striking with stick, 2) pushing, 3) blocking with body, 4) tripping or any action considered dangerous to the other player.
* Any player with two fouls is required to sit out for two minutes.
7. There are only three times that you may high-stick
1) When the goalie picks up the puck.
2) During a penalty shot.
3) When the puck goes out of bounds.
